The European Commission (EC) has published guidelines for Apple on how to meet interoperability requirements of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The guidelines aim to ensure that devices like smartwatches and features like wireless file transfers function smoothly with iPhones.
The EC also calls for Apple to provide outside iOS developers with more information on accessing iPhone features and establish a fair process to handle technical disagreements.
Apple argues that complying with the DMA's requirements would put users' privacy at risk and claims that granting certain requests could compromise user data.
