A class action lawsuit has been filed against Apple in California over misleading customers about perpetual availability of purchased eBooks.
The complaint alleges that Apple removes digital books without warning and without providing refunds, leaving customers unable to re-download books they purchased.
The lawsuit seeks up to $5 billion in damages and includes all individuals who purchased a digital book or audiobook from the Apple Books store within the defined class period.
The class action lawsuit remains pending, awaiting certification and assignment of a judge.
