Apple is reportedly developing custom chips to power future AirPods and Apple Watch models featuring built-in cameras, with a tentative launch expected around 2027.
The silicon team at Apple has started work on chips for camera-equipped devices, with codenames 'Nevis' for Apple Watch and 'Glenni' for AirPods, aiming to have the chips ready within the next two years.
Potential uses for the built-in cameras include enhancing spatial audio, in-air gestures, FaceTime calls, and enabling AI features for better interaction with surroundings.
Additionally, Apple's silicon team is also developing chips for other future products like smart glasses, AI servers, and more powerful Mac models.
