Apple is likely to win the rights to stream F1 races in the US, outbidding ESPN with a bid of at least $150 million per year starting in 2026.
This would be Apple's third sports streaming deal, following agreements to stream some pro baseball games and all Major League Soccer games.
Formula 1's popularity in the US has been growing, partly due to the success of Netflix's docuseries 'Drive to Survive', with ESPN noting an average of 1.3 million viewers per race.
While ESPN, currently paying around $85 million annually for F1 rights, seems to be reallocating its resources, Apple continues to expand its sports content portfolio, though it has yet to secure NFL rights.
Apple and ESPN have not commented on the situation, and neither has F1 or Liberty Media Group.
Interest in F1 rights from other bidders reportedly has been low, with Apple appearing as the frontrunner for the US streaming rights.
