Apple plans to rename all its major operating systems by marking them with the year of release instead of just incrementing the version number.
The next big updates will be named iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26, aligning with the year after the update's release.
This change will be officially announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starting on June 9th to bring consistency to its software version numbers.
At WWDC, Apple is also expected to reveal a design overhaul for its operating systems inspired by Vision Pro's visionOS, with the keynote commencing on June 9th at 1PM ET.
