Apple is developing new Vision Pro headsets, including a lighter variant of its mixed reality headset and augmented reality glasses with integrated cameras and microphones.
The new mixed reality headsets may be available as early as January 2026, while the AR glasses will take longer to launch due to the need to perfect various technologies.
The second-generation Vision Pro headset is expected to address latency issues and have the option to connect to a Mac for ultra-low latency. A lighter version of the headset is also in development to address weight and cost concerns.
Apple is working on smart glasses similar to Meta's Ray-Ban line, featuring built-in cameras and microphones, a high-resolution display, and advanced AR capabilities. However, several key technologies need refinement before the release.
