Apple MacBook Pro M4 review: faster, better and cheaper
- Apple has introduced the M4 upgrade to the MacBook Pro for 2024 with a power boost, longer battery life, a significant memory increase and a price cut
- Compared to last year's M3 models, the M4 version starts at £1,599 and is £100 cheaper
- The MacBook Pro M4 still has a premium aluminium body and a great mini LED display with HDR content setting it apart
- The new 12MP Stage Centre camera is excellent for video calls and the ultrawide-angle lens gives a view of the area in front of the laptop
- The M4 chip runs up to 25% faster and provides better battery life with the laptop lasting about 21 hours with light browsing
- M4 Pro and M4 Max chips are available for rendering 3D objects, crunching numbers or authoring code
- The newest version of macOS, Sequoia 15.1, is now used in the MacBook Pro M4
- The MacBook Pro M4 is still a premium laptop with at least 16GB of RAM and class-leading battery life
- The MacBook Pro M4 has plenty of ports and an SD card slot that are missing from many other laptops
- The laptop’s touchscreen lacks Face ID, USB-A and the RAM or SSD cannot be upgraded after purchase
