Apple is aiming to release smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban models by the end of 2026 to stay competitive in the AI trend.
The smart glasses, known internally as N50 and now as N401, will have dedicated processors, cameras, microphones, and speakers for various functions like voice input for Siri, phone calls, music playing, live translations, and navigation.
Apple is also working on augmented reality (AR) glasses for the future. Compared to Meta's glasses, Apple's smart glasses are said to be better made.
Meanwhile, Meta plans to release higher-end models of its smart glasses with displays in the coming years, while Apple has faced challenges in AI development and is exploring new products like an AirPod with cameras.
