Apple will transfer its not-so-secret robotics unit from the oversight of its struggling AI chief, John Giannandrea, to the hardware division later this month.
The move is part of a larger effort to catch up in the field of artificial intelligence where Apple has fallen behind tech peers.
The change will allow Giannandrea's group to focus on underlying AI technology, while the robotics unit will be placed under Senior Vice President John Ternus.
This transfer marks another demotion for Giannandrea, following major delays to Siri features and a tepid response to the Apple Intelligence platform.
