Apple has announced that the old HomeKit architecture will stop working this fall, requiring users to upgrade to the latest version to ensure uninterrupted use of smart home appliances and automations.
Users need to upgrade before fall to avoid interruptions with smart home accessories and automations, as iOS 19 is set to pull support for the old HomeKit architecture.
To upgrade to the new HomeKit architecture, users can do so via the built-in Home app by going to Home Settings, selecting Software Update, and performing a software upgrade for all homes simultaneously.
The new HomeKit architecture offers improved performance and reliability, but users may need to set up a home hub for features like sharing control, receiving notifications, adding Matter accessories, etc.
