An Apple Watch alerted a New Zealand psychiatrist to a life-threatening cancer after consistently sending high heart rate notifications.
Dr. Amanda Faulkner, 51, initially dismissed the alerts as a fault in the device before realizing it was a life-saving purchase.
Following persistent alerts from the Apple Watch, Faulkner sought medical attention and received a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia within hours.
The timing of the diagnosis was critical, as Faulkner was hours away from potential organ failure and likely would not have survived if she delayed seeking medical attention.
