Apple is seeking an appeal to overturn a tribunal decision that led to the removal of the blood oxygen technology from its Apple Watch models in the US.
The US appeals court is now deliberating on whether to grant Apple's appeal or uphold Masimo's favorable ruling regarding the blood oxygen feature.
The legal battle began in December 2023 when the US International Trade Commission ruled that Apple had infringed on Masimo's blood oxygen patents, leading to the temporary removal of the feature from certain Apple Watch models.
Apple may have to wait until 2028 when the patent expires for the blood oxygen feature to potentially return to Apple Watches in the US, unless the court decides in its favor.
