Apple Watch S9 chip joins A16 production at TSMC Arizona

  • TSMC Arizona is now producing S9 SiPs for Apple Watch, joining the production of A16 processor for iPhones.
  • The S9 SiP is believed to be a derivative of the A16 processor and is manufactured at N4 (part of the N5-family of process nodes).
  • TSMC Arizona currently has three processors in production, including S9 SiP for Apple Watch, A16 for iPhones, and Ryzen 9000 for AMD.
  • The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by Apple's S9 SiP, while the Apple Watch Series 10 uses the S10 SiP and the Apple Watch SE uses the S8 SiP.
