Apple: We have a longstanding privacy commitment with Siri
- Apple has affirmed its commitment to privacy of user data, including those of Siri.
- Siri uses on-device processing where possible to personalize experiences without having to transfer and analyze personal information on Apple servers.
- Apple minimizes the amount of data collected for Siri requests and uses random identifiers to keep track of data without tying it to a user's identity through their Apple account or phone number.
- Apple no longer retains audio recordings of Siri interactions unless users explicitly opt in to help improve Siri; even then, the recordings are used solely for that purpose.
- Apple has developed a breakthrough technology, Private Cloud Compute, that extends the privacy and security of iPhone into the cloud to unlock even more intelligence which gives users the ability to get things done effortlessly with built-in intelligence features that make Siri more capable, personal, and helpful every day.
- Apple strives to do its best in protecting users' privacy at every step by using data minimization principles, on-device intelligence, transparency and control, and strong security protections.
- Apple believes that privacy is a fundamental human right and will continue to focus on designing products and services that protect it.
