Apple's M4 Mac mini is the smallest Mac ever and, with a new M4 Pro option, possibly the most powerful too

  • Apple has announced an all-new, extremely small new Mac mini featuring a 3-nanometer M4 chip.
  • The new Mac has the option for an all-new piece of Apple silicon, the M4 Pro, which some consider the fastest yet.
  • The current launch of the M4 Pro marks the first introduction of the M4, with the Pro offering an up-to-14-core CPU and a 20-core GPU.
  • The M4 Pro introduces Thunderbolt 5 support, which will allow transfer speeds of up to 120Gbps.
  • The base memory for the Mac mini M4 is 16GB, which is up from 8GB, and has increased memory bandwidth by 75%.
  • The new Mac mini has a starting price of $599 / £599 / $999AU and features a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
  • The Mac mini M4 is being produced using 50% recycled content and is being produced using all renewable energy. It is considered by Apple as the first carbon-neutral Mac.
  • The new Mac mini has a smaller chassis, with USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack located at the front and Thunderbolt (3x), Ethernet, and HDMI ports on the back.
  • The M4 Pro appears to be capable of powering through pro-level video editing much easier due to the increased memory bandwidth and Thunderbolt 5 support.
  • The Mac mini M4 is available for pre-sale on October 29 and ships on November 8, with deliveries starting on November 10 for those in the UK.
