AquaPraça is a floating cultural plaza developed by CRA–Carlo Ratti Associati and Höweler + Yoon for global climate dialogue, designed to adapt to rising water levels and occupancy demands.
The structure utilizes sensors, responsive technologies, and Archimedes’ principle to adjust buoyancy in real-time, maintaining a minimal difference between its surface and the sea as water levels shift.
AquaPraça spans over 400 square meters and will debut at the Venice Architecture Biennale in September 2025 before being showcased at COP30 in Brazil, where it will anchor the Italian Pavilion.
The project aims to explore a new symbiosis between architecture and the environment, offering a unique platform for climate discourse and serving as a long-term cultural landmark in the Amazon.
