Audi has made the decision to close its factory in Brussels, Belgium at the end of February due to poor sales of the Q8 E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron Sportback.
Efforts to find a buyer for the factory have been unsuccessful, and the closure is described as a 'painful' decision by Audi board member Gerd Walker.
The factory has been producing the Q8-badged models since December 2022 and has a maximum annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles.
Audi had intended to go fully electric by 2033, but now aims to remain flexible and adaptable in its electric vehicle strategy.
