The auto parts manufacturing sector in Pakistan is opposing the proposed 15 percent customs duty on auto parts, citing concerns about hindering industry growth and weakening competitiveness in the global market.
A high-level meeting chaired by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan was held to address these concerns. Representatives from various auto sector stakeholders and government bodies were present.
Haroon Akhtar assured that industry concerns will be raised with the Tariff Policy Board and emphasized the importance of maintaining competitiveness and sustainability.
The government plans to incentivize industries showing productivity gains, but manufacturers fear the new duty could impede progress. Continued dialogue and collaborative policymaking are promised to address these issues.
