The average asking price for a UK home has reached a new record high of almost £380,000 in May, marking the second consecutive month of a new high.
The increase in asking price was £2,335 (0.6%) higher compared to April, with a growing trend observed for the fifth consecutive year in May.
The spring property market has been less lively than usual, influenced by lower new buyer demand after a busy first quarter, driven by the rush to beat the stamp duty deadline earlier in the year.
Despite the slowdown in new buyer demand, property sales agreed in April were 5% higher than the same time last year, with lenders gradually reducing interest rates and reviewing affordability criteria.
