Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a new quantum computing chip, Ocelot, which can reduce the costs of implementing quantum error correction by up to 90%.
Ocelot, developed by the AWS Centre for Quantum Computing, uses a novel design and 'cat qubits' to suppress certain errors and reduce the need for resources in error correction.
Unlike other approaches, AWS incorporates error correction into the architecture, considering it a top requirement for practical quantum computers.
Ocelot is still a prototype, and AWS plans to continue investing in further research.
