AWS is forming a new parent company and three subsidiaries in Germany to establish a sovereign cloud in the EU.
The new company, AWS European Sovereign Cloud, will operate within the EU, with data control and operations handled by EU-based employees.
The initiative includes an investment of €7.8 billion to build the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in Germany by 2040, starting with a region in Brandenburg.
Additionally, AWS is setting up an advisory board and a European security operations center to meet European digital sovereignty requirements.
