<ul><li>Balrampur Chini Mills plans to invest ₹2,850 crore in a biopolymer plant to produce eco-friendly plastic products as an alternative to single-use plastics.</li><li>The plant will have an annual capacity to produce 80,000 tonnes of Polylactic Acid (PLA) by diverting 1.3 lakh tonnes of sugar from its annual production.</li><li>PLA, derived from renewable resources, offers strong performance and sustainability, and the plant is expected to become operational next year in Uttar Pradesh.</li><li>The biopolymer plant, powered by 100% renewable energy, aims for a turnover of ₹2,000 crore and expects high demand due to the eco-friendly nature of the polymers.</li></ul>
