Bangladesh's interim government has formally requested India to extradite ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been living in exile in India since Aug. 5.
Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh following widespread student-led protests that led to the downfall of her 16-year regime.
The International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh has issued arrest warrants for Hasina, accusing her of crimes against humanity and genocide.
Bangladesh's interim government has sent a diplomatic note to India, formally requesting the return of Hasina for legal proceedings.
