UK broadcasters slashed their spending on big-budget TV shows to the lowest level in almost a decade last year.
High-end TV shows costing more than £1m an hour to make experienced a 25% drop with an investment of £598m in 2024.
US-based media firms, including Netflix, Amazon, and Disney, increased their investment by a quarter, reaching £2.82bn in 2024.
The surge in overall spend on high-end TV production in the UK came at a time when the number of productions decreased by 42% in 2024 compared to the previous year.
