West Bengal government aims to sow paddy on 42 lakh hectares for the 2025-26 kharif season, surpassing last year's target.
Paddy sowing in the state has reached around 3 lakh hectares, with expectations to achieve the full target by July-end due to early rains.
In the previous crop year, Bengal broke records by producing 256 lakh tonnes of paddy and aims to exceed this record in the current season.
The state, known for rice production, has a significant focus on supporting small farmers with timely assistance and inputs for successful cultivation.
