Bengaluru's Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has increased autorickshaw fares, with the base price rising to Rs 36 for the first two kilometers starting August 1.
The fare for each additional kilometer has been raised to Rs 18 from the previous Rs 15, and a 50% surcharge for night travel from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will be applicable.
Passengers can now carry up to 20 kg of baggage for free, with a fee of Rs 10 for every additional 20 kg. Auto drivers are required to prominently display the revised fare chart and recalibrate fare meters by October 31, 2025.
Despite the revision, some auto drivers are dissatisfied, citing increased expenses. Ride-hailing platforms like Ola and Uber are expected to align their pricing with the new fares.
