India has unveiled the Bharat Forecasting System (BFS) with a high resolution of six km, making it the highest in the world for weather forecasting.
Developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, BFS will be operational from this monsoon season, enhancing India's weather prediction capabilities.
BFS is the only global numerical weather prediction system at such high resolution, surpassing models from European, British, and US weather offices.
The BFS model will lead to more accurate and localized forecasts, benefiting sectors like monsoon tracking, agriculture, aviation, disaster management, and more.
