The Biden Administration has agreed to provide a conditional loan of $6.6 billion to Rivian for the development of an EV manufacturing facility in Georgia.
The loan will support the construction of a nine million square foot facility and create up to 2,000 full-time jobs during the construction phase and 7,500 operations jobs by 2030.
Rivian, known for producing electric SUVs and pickup trucks, plans to use the loan to expand its manufacturing capacity and produce more affordable vehicles for the mass market.
The loan could potentially antagonize Elon Musk and his company Tesla, as it seems directed towards Rivian, Tesla's competitor, and a close rival of Musk's.
