Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, owns four private jets but sees no contradiction with his advocacy for climate action.
Gates was recently interviewed by the BBC and responded to criticism about his use of private jets while championing environmental causes.
Microsoft, the company co-founded by Gates, has partnered with Swiss firm Climeworks to remove 10,000 tons of CO2 emissions from the atmosphere in the next 10 years.
“Well, I buy the gold standard of funding Climeworks, to do direct air capture that far exceeds my family’s carbon footprint,” Gates told the BBC.
"I spent billions of dollars on climate innovations," he added.
