Bitcoin reached a new all-time high above $112,000 on Wednesday driven by a tech rally led by Nvidia in the equities market.
The price of bitcoin was up 1.9%, trading at $110,947.49, hitting a peak of $112,052.24 before the stock market close, surpassing its previous record of $111,999 from May.
Despite substantial investments in bitcoin exchange traded funds and increased bitcoin purchases by public companies in the second quarter, the cryptocurrency has only seen a 2% rise in the past month.
The rally in tech stocks and Nvidia's milestone of briefly touching $4 trillion in market capitalization on Wednesday contributed to the positive sentiment, with the Nasdaq Composite closing at a record high for the session.
