Black Leaders Detroit is leading a 1,645-mile 'Ride for Equity' from Tulsa’s Black Wall Street to New York City’s Wall Street, honoring the legacy of historic Black business districts and supporting Black entrepreneurs.
The ride will start on May 31 and end around July 4, making stops in Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania before reaching Wall Street, aiming to raise awareness and funds for Black-owned businesses.
This year's ride commemorates Black Wall Street in Tulsa, which was violently destroyed in 1921, as well as highlights the historical ties of Wall Street to slavery and profiting from the labor of enslaved individuals.
The 'Ride for Equity' by Black Leaders Detroit aims to spark conversations about unity, race, equity, and fostering good neighborly relations through community events and collective action for lasting change.
