The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced a 'Pothole QuickFix' app and a dedicated WhatsApp service for reporting potholes in Mumbai.
The new system aims to simplify complaint registration with just three to five clicks, allowing users to submit photos of potholes and their locations directly through the app or WhatsApp.
Users can contact BMC's chatbot services on WhatsApp at 8999228999 to report potholes, with an assurance that the department will address the issue within 48 hours.
If repairs are delayed, the matter will be escalated, emphasizing accountability for fixing potholes, especially critical during the monsoon season.
The WhatsApp service allows users to use keywords like 'Pothole' or 'Khadda' to guide them in sharing photos and location details for efficient complaint handling.
Citizens can monitor the status of their complaints via the app, which also offers the option to reopen complaints if unsatisfied with the repair work.
BMC officials believe this initiative will positively impact road conditions, particularly during the monsoon, and reduce hazards associated with the season.
The system's simplicity and transparency aim to increase public engagement and address the pothole issue more effectively, as stated by BMC official Abhijeet Bangar.
