Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has introduced 148 new non-AC electric buses with safety and eco-friendly upgrades.
These e-buses, supplied by Tata Motors Ltd Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd, operate under a Gross Cost Contract model for 12 years at ₹41.01 per kilometre per bus, including electricity charges.
BMTC aims to prevent around 2.07 lakh kilograms of CO₂ emissions and save nearly 77,000 litres of diesel daily with the new electric buses, contributing to the city's green transport initiatives.
The buses feature zero-emission operation, safety measures like panic buttons and FDAS, accessibility features like wheelchair ramps, and energy-efficient regenerative braking.
