BMW and Mercedes-Benz are in a tight sales competition in Australia, with only six deliveries separating them this year.
Both brands have announced new local leadership changes, with Vikram Pawah appointed as BMW Group Australia's CEO from September 1, 2025, and Homero Becerra Gonzalez set to become the CEO and managing director of Mercedes-Benz Australia-Pacific on November 1, 2025.
BMW reclaimed its position as the leading premium automotive brand in Australia in 2023, ahead of Mercedes-Benz. Currently, BMW leads in sales with 13,712 deliveries compared to Mercedes-Benz's 13,706.
The outgoing Mercedes-Benz Australia-Pacific CEO, Jamie Cohen, is stepping down after a year, to be succeeded by Homero Becerra Gonzalez. Mercedes-Benz experienced sales growth in the first half of 2025, but BMW leads in electric vehicle deliveries with 3090 units compared to Mercedes-Benz's 1581 including the Vans division.
