Chinese EV brand Aito, owned by Seres Group and Huawei, outsold BMW and Mercedes in China with 151,000 units sold last year.
Aito's success is attributed to the popularity of its flagship M9 luxury SUV, featuring tech-heavy features like Huawei's HarmonyOS and premium interior options.
Seres repositioned itself with Aito after partnering with Huawei in 2021, leading to a significant growth in sales, tripling to about 427,000 units in 2023.
Aito's rise reflects a shift in China's premium auto segment, once dominated by foreign brands like BMW and Mercedes, now seeing Chinese EV makers disrupting the market.
