BMW Drops Entry Level XM For 2026

  • BMW has unveiled the 2026 XM model with a more focused lineup and subtle updates.
  • The entry-level standard variant has been removed for 2026, with all XM models now offering a high-performance plug-in hybrid setup.
  • The XM features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine with a 19.2 kWh battery and an electric motor, delivering 738 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque.
  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package.
  • Enhancements for the 2026 XM include faster AC charging and new visual upgrades like welcome light animation and paint options.
  • Interior updates offer three new themes with premium leather options and rear seat comfort cushions.
  • Production of the 2026 XM will start in August at BMW's Spartanburg plant, with pricing to be revealed closer to the launch.
  • The base model previously started at R3,400,000, while the XM Label was priced from R3,650,000.
