A consumer rights watchdog in Brazil has filed a legal challenge against Nintendo for its 'bricking' policy of consoles for violating terms of service.
The policy was introduced just before the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 and bans consoles from accessing online features if terms are violated.
Affected users speculate that bans are related to piracy-enabling devices like flash memory cards, resulting in consoles displaying error code 2124-4508.
The ban applies to online features like GameChat and multiplayer, impacting both paid and unpaid services; buying a secondhand 'bricked' console could be a risk.
