BSNL has installed over 94,500 4G towers across India with a goal to reach 1 lakh towers in the near future, falling short of the initial target set for June 2025.
India's union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed that more than 80-85% of these towers are now commissioned. Additionally, 5G has reached 99.6% of districts in India, covering 82% of the population.
BSNL has shown financial improvement by posting profits for two consecutive quarters and reducing its yearly losses. However, challenges persist due to private telcos rapidly gaining new subscribers at the expense of BSNL and Vi.
While BSNL is vital for providing low-cost high-speed network services in India, Vi faces financial challenges, with no plans for equity conversions or government backing for AGR dues relief in the near future.
