BYD has surpassed Tesla in European electric vehicle (EV) sales for the first time, marking a significant shift in the market.
In April, BYD registered 7,231 new battery-electric vehicles, a 169% increase year-on-year, while Tesla's registrations declined by 49%.
This development indicates a changing landscape in Europe's EV market, with BYD's total sales rising by 359% in April compared to the previous year.
Chinese manufacturers like BYD are now focusing on both fully electric cars and plug-in hybrids in Europe, adapting to higher tariffs on Chinese-made EVs and evolving market demands.
