CACP has recommended banning the import of yellow peas and increasing the import duty on other pulses to ensure better prices for farmers during KMS 2025-26.
The government approved a 1-13.9% increase in MSP for various kharif crops for KMS 2025-26 as suggested by CACP.
CACP highlighted the impact of unrestricted and cheap imports of pulses and edible oils on domestic prices, leading to prices falling below MSP in KMS 2024-25.
CACP also recommended comprehensive diversification strategies to boost production of pulses and oilseeds in order to achieve self-reliance and address sustainability challenges.
