CAI estimates closing stocks of cotton for the current 2024-25 season to be around 55.59 lakh bales, significantly higher than the previous year.
The total cotton supply till the end of June is estimated at 356.76 lakh bales, with consumption at 233.5 lakh bales and exports at 15.25 lakh bales.
CAI projects total cotton supply for the entire 2024-25 season at 380.59 lakh bales, with domestic consumption expected to be at 308 lakh bales and exports at 17 lakh bales.
Imports of cotton for 2024-25 are estimated to be 39 lakh bales, more than double the previous year, with cotton sowing progressing well in key producing States.
