Meta has agreed to pay 311,000 Australian users AUD $50 million ($31.7 million) over the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
The settlement with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) comes after a four-year dispute and follows previous awards in the US, UK, and elsewhere.
Cambridge Analytica accessed the personal data of Australian users through an app and used it to target individuals with tailored messages.
Meta will set up a payment system run by a third-party administrator for affected individuals to seek redress, with payments varying based on the level of harm suffered.
