Cardano's upcoming Ouroboros Leios upgrade aims to achieve millions of transactions per second (TPS) by enabling parallel transaction execution and maintaining core principles of security and decentralization.
According to Charles Hoskinson, Cardano founder, Leios will match the performance profiles of high-throughput blockchains like Solana and Sui while preserving decentralization.
Nicolas Biri, IOG Director of Software Architecture, believes that with the Leios upgrade, Cardano will emerge as one of the industry's most performant blockchains and offer new possibilities for decentralized applications.
Cardano's 2025 roadmap includes plans to launch innovations like Midgard and Gummiworm, connect ADA with major cryptocurrencies like XRP and Bitcoin, and become a DeFi layer for these assets to enhance their utility.
