Casa Azzurra is a newly built architectural retreat in Joshua Tree, with a tonal blue stucco façade that blends into the desert sky.
The project challenges traditional notions of a desert home and offers a spatial experience rooted in memory, place, and sensorial immersion.
The retreat is designed by Italian architect Mirtilla Alliata di Montereale and draws inspiration from her childhood summers in the Aeolian Islands, her professional collaborations, and the elemental landscapes of Joshua Tree.
Casa Azzurra is organized around the idea of expansion, both spatially and sensorially, and features a vivid cobalt-blue courtyard, jewel-toned bedrooms, and architectural interventions that merge landscape and architecture.
