Cashless Treatment for Road Accidents Under New Govt. Scheme

  • A new government scheme effective from May 5, 2025, ensures cashless treatment for individuals injured in road accidents involving motor vehicles, especially during the critical golden hour.
  • Under the Road Accident-Free Treatment initiative, eligible individuals can avail up to ₹1.5 lakh for a period of seven days without advance payment at designated hospitals nationwide.

  • A central steering committee will oversee the scheme to ensure smooth operations, following a pilot version initiated in March 2024 and expanded nationwide to enhance trauma care for road accident victims.
