CATL, the world's biggest EV battery maker, has launched a new skateboard platform called "panshi" that can withstand a 120 km/h frontal impact without catching fire or exploding.
The platform aims to accelerate EV development and lower costs, potentially making niche EV firms profitable by selling just 10,000 cars a year.
CATL has showcased the platform to potential luxury EV manufacturer Porsche and investors in the United Arab Emirates.
In addition to the platform, CATL is exploring micro power grids and building a battery swapping service.
