The Indian government has allocated 5.2 million tonnes of rice for ethanol production in the ethanol supply year 2025-26.
The fixed rate for rice allocated for ethanol production has been increased to ₹2,320 per quintal from the previous ₹2,250.
A new category for broken rice has been introduced under the Rice Milling Transformation scheme mainly for distilleries, with a reserve price of ₹2,320 per quintal from November 1.
The sale price of rice for central cooperative agencies has been fixed at ₹2,480 per quintal until June 30, 2026, while the subsidy for 'Bharat' brand rice has been discontinued. The quantity of rice sale to State governments and agencies has been reduced for the following year.
