Decentralized exchange Cetus faced an attack resulting in the loss of $223 million in crypto assets, termed 'The Cetus Hack.'
The attack involved token spoofing, smart contract manipulation, and the theft of approximately $223 million worth of tokens, with $60 million exiting before countermeasures were implemented.
Despite the breach, the Sui blockchain hosting Cetus remained stable, showcasing resilience and real-time coordination within the DeFi ecosystem.
Cetus offered a $6 million bounty for the return of stolen funds, while Sui deployed emergency tools like a whitelist function and a restore module to recover assets and compensate liquidity providers.
