Digital content startup Chai Bisket raised $5 Mn in seed funding to launch an OTT platform called Chai Shots, led by InfoEdge Ventures and General Catalyst.
The funding round included angel investors such as Swiggy and redBus cofounders, aiming to release over 100 original shows in the first six months on a short-form platform.
Chai Shots, launching soon in early access, will offer original content initially in Telugu and expand to multiple languages. Chai Bisket creates various digital content types.
The move comes amidst the rising popularity of microdramas in India, reflected in the market's projected growth to nearly $12 Bn by 2030. Several platforms are exploring short-format content, including Amazon's MX Fatafat and JioHotstar.
