Changan Thailand has launched its new vehicle manufacturing plant in Rayong province, which will serve as a hub for assembling vehicles for Southeast Asian markets, Australia, and New Zealand.
The facility features body, paint, and final assembly shops, along with a powertrain workshop, initially with a production capacity of 100,000 units annually, set to increase to 200,000 units by 2027.
Changan executives met with Thailand's prime minister to discuss their investment plan worth over 10 billion baht and future strategies, including increasing locally sourced parts to 80% by 2028 and expanding employment opportunities for Thai locals.
Future plans for Changan in Thailand include establishing an R&D center for right-hand drive vehicles, promoting new energy technology and AI research, and setting up an international business center for strategic planning and exports.
